Food in Books Has Reached 200 Followers!

I am thrilled and very grateful to all my wonderful readers and followers who have supported this idea of mine from Day 1! Today, I reached 200 followers on my blog, which may not be much in the grand scheme of things, but I am so happy!

To celebrate, I am giving away a copy of the best-selling memoir by the late, great Julia Child My Life in France, and one of you lucky readers will win! In the comment section below, just tell me what literary feast you would want to eat most, or tell me what your last meal on earth would be! A random winner will be selected within the next couple of weeks!

Again, thank you for your support! It means more to me than I can possibly express.

Vanessa

  1. Auguri! means congratulations! I’d love to have the feast in the movie “Big Night” – a multi course Italian dinner with Timpano. I know I am referring to a movie and not a book, but everything looks so delicious when I watch the film I’d just love it to be real.

  2. Congrats!! When I first started, I considered doing a version of what you’re doing, but somehow once I turned about 50 I’ve gone from a voracious reader to literally struggling. Short term memory issues…but I keep on the positive side. I can read the same books and magazines over and over, lol! I am sure I would read Julia’s over and over anyway!

You do a beautiful job on your blog and thanks for all you share with us!

    1. And look, I forgot~ My last meal would be my Denver Green Chili (from my recipe) home-made refried beans and soft, fresh flour tortillas. For dessert, a piece of Cafe Latte’s Turtle cake and a scoop of good Vanilla ice-cream.

      1. Oh, a girl after my own heart! My own last meal would be my Nana’s green chile chicken enchiladas, beans, quelites (which are a New Mexico braised green vegetable), fresh homemade tortillas with butter, and apple pie with vanilla ice cream!

      1. My late mom, Melba Otero Sanchez, made the most amazingly delicious enchiladas, and I miss her and her cooking so much, that I would choose her enchiladas as my last meal…

      2. A man after my own heart. My own last meal would be my Nana Jean’s green chile chicken casserole, beans and quelites, tortillas with butter, and apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Thank you for sharing your story of your mother. She sounds like a lovely person. You’re entered!

  4. So cool! Congratulations! My favorite food from a book is not really a novel, but it’s Medium Raw by Anthony Bourdain. When he writes about the guy at Le Bernadin who does nothing but debone and cut all the fish, it touched my heart and also made me crave seafood. So that’s my favorite foodie moment from a book, if that counts.

    1. Thanks, Mari! I appreciate your kind words! I love Anthony Bourdain too, and I remember that book and scene very well. Doesn’t he take the guy to lunch at Le Bernardin at the end, too? Loved that part. You’re entered!

  5. Congrats, Vanessa! You deserve them all! How excited I am for you. ♡♡♡

I have to say that my last meal on Earth would have to be a whole fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with 5 corn on the cob with melted butter and cherry cheesecake for dessert. I’m so hungry right now, lol!

Happy for you, Vanessa. Keep up the awesome work… 💗🤗
